Darshi Keerthisena, head of design at Buddhi Batiks has developed a range of resort wear and swim wear aimed at the EU and US market. This exclusive collection was showcased at the Sri Lanka Design Festival 2009. Bianca Pahathkumbura, Fallon Shilathi, Piyumi Leeniyagala, Tharushi Dilsh, Piorina Fernando, Amy Silva and foreign models catwalked for the show.
She transformed the ailing batik industry which now breathes new life by creating designer wear batik with a modern twist that is strutted at local and international catwalks with much pride and pleasure. Buddhi Batiks is retailing at the Odel department store and is opening a showroom at Ward Place shortly. In addition to stores in Sri Lanka, Buddhi Batiks also retails in Bangalore, Chennai, Hong Kong, and the Maldives.
